In 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games were held at the foot of Mount Olympus to honor the Greeks’ chief god, Zeus. The warm climate for outdoor activities, the need for preparedness in war, and their lifestyle caused the Greeks to create competitive sports. Only the elite and military could participate at first, but later the games were open to all free Greek males who had no criminal record. The Greeks emphasized physical fitness and strength in their education of youth. Therefore, contest in running, jumping, discuss and javelin throwing, boxing, and horse and chariot racing were held in individual cities, and the winners competed every four years at Mount Olympus. Winners were greatly honored by having olive wreaths placed on their heads and having poems sung about their deeds. Originally these contests were held as games of friendship, and any wars in progress were halted to allow the games to take place. They also helped to strengthen bonds among competitors and the different cities represented.
The Greeks attached so much importance to the games that they calculated time in four-year cycles called “Olympiads,” dating from 776 B.C. The contest coincided with religious festivities and constituted an all-out effort on the part of the participants to please the gods. Any who disobeyed the rules were dismissed and seriously punished. These athletes brought shame not only to themselves, but also to the cities they represented.

Obat Alami untuk Bau Badan

Pernah merasa terganggu dengan bau badan seseorang? atau Anda sendiri yang mengalaminya? Tentunya hal ini sangat mengganggu aktivitas dan membuat kita kurang percaya diri. Apalagi saat berkumpul dengan tema atau di tengah kerumunan orang banyak.

Bau badan timbul disebabkan oleh bakteri dan jamur, yang kemudian dipicu oleh keringat sehingga menghasilkan bau yang tidak sedap atau dapat juga terjadi karena kurangnya kebersihan badan.

Untuk mengatasi masalah bau badan ini ada beberapa ramuan obat tradisional dari tanaman obat yang bisa digunakan:

Cara membuatnya: rebus daun sirih dengan air secukupnya dan gunakan air rebusannya untuk mandi 2 kali sehari secara teratur.

Cara membuatnya: Kupas ketimun dan gosokkan pada bagian badan yang berbau. Gunakan setiap habis mandi

* Kencur

Bahan:

- Daun Sirih 7 lembar
- Adas 10 gram
- Buah Pinang 1 butir

Cara membuatnya: rebus semua bahan dnengan 600 cc air sampai sisa 300cc. Air rebusannya disaring dan minum selagi hangat. Minum air ini secara teratur 2 kali sehari.

* Daun beluntas

Bahan:
- Daun beluntas segar 10-15 lembar

Cara membuatnya: Cuci bersih daun beluntas, dan gunakan sebagai lalapan segar.

* Daun Kemangi

Bahan:
- Daun Kemangi 1 ikat

Cara membuatnya: Cuci bersih daun beluntas, dan gunakan sebagai lalapan segar.

* Temulawak

Bahan:
- Temulawak kering 10 gram

Cara membuatnya: Cuci bersih temulawak dan rebus dengan 600cc air hingga tersisa 200 cc. Air rebusan ini diminum setiap pagi.

5 Bahan Makanan yang Tidak Dapat Disimpan di Kulkas

Kita pasti berpikir bahwa cara yang tepat untuk menyimpan sayur adalah dengan dimasukkan ke kulkas supaya tetap segar. Namun ternyata tidak semua bahan makanan dapat disimpan di dalam kulkas. Berikut adalah lima jenis contohnya.


Tomat
Ok, secara teknis tomat adalah buah, namun lebih dekat disebut sebagai sayur. Jika kamu pernah menanam tomat, maka kamu akan tahu bahwa tomat suka panas dan benci dingin. Ternyata walaupun setelah dipetik, tomat masih tidak tahan dingin. Kulkas bukanlah tempat yang cocok untuk menyimpan tomat. Tomat yang disimpan dalam kulkas menjadi layu dan meskipun masih bisa dipakai untuk dimasak namun tidak untuk dimakan segar. Simpanlah di meja dapur (namun tidak terkena sinar matahari langsung) dan nikmati saat sudah ranum.

Kemangi
Sama seperti tomat, kemangi juga suka panas, jadi jika disimpan di tempat dingin akan menyebabkan kemangi layu secara dini. Kemangi akan berada dalam kondisi maksimal jika disimpan di atas meja dapur dan dirawat seperti bunga segar. Setangkup kemangi dapat disimpan dalam sebuah cangkir berisi air (ganti airnya setiap sehari atau dua hari sekali) dan jauhkan dari sinar matahari. Bungkus longgar dengan kantong plastik untuk menjaganya tetap lembap (namun pastikan plastik mempunyai lubang untuk jalan masuk udara segar).

Kentang
Kentang baik disimpan pada suhu yang dingin namun bukan suhu dingin yang dapat membuatnya beku. Kentang baik disimpan dalam suhu sekitar 7,2 derajat Celcius, sekitar 10 derajat lebih hangat daripada kulkas pada umumnya. Sebagian besar dari kita tidak memiliki ruang penyimpanan bawah tanah (tempat yang gelap dan bersuhu dingin untuk menyimpan sayuran umbi akar seperti kentang), jadi menyimpan kentang di dalam kantong kertas di tempat dingin (seperti dalam lemari makanan) adalah yang terbaik.

Kenapa kertas? Karena kertas lebih memiliki pori-pori untuk benapas, tidak seperti plastik. Jadi kentang tidak akan membusuk dengan mudah. Dan kenapa bukan kulkas? Menyimpan kentang di dalam kulkas dapat mengubah zat tepungnya menjadi gula dengan mudah, yang dapat memengaruhi rasa, tekstur, dan proses kematangannya.

Bawang
Bawang keluar dari tanah dengan kulit pelindung yang tipis. Untuk membuat dan menjaga lapisan kulit yang tipis, bawang butuh "disembuhkan" dan disimpan di tempat yang kering seperti lemari penyimpan makanan, yang tidak selembap kulkas. Selain itu, kekurangan sirkulasi udara dapat membuat bawang menjadi busuk. Oleh karena itu bawah sebaiknya tidak disimpan di dekat kentang, yang mengeluarkan gas dan kelembapan dan dapat menyebabkan bawang lebih cepat busuk.

Simpanlah bawang di ruangan yang dingin, kering, gelap, dan memiliki ventilasi yang baik. (Cahaya dapat menyebabkan rasa bawang menjadi pahit). Namun tak semua bawang harus diperlakukan sama. Daun bawang dan kucai memiliki kadar air yang tinggi dan lebih mudah rusak, jadi harus disimpan di dalam kulkas.

Alpukat
Saat kita membeli alpukat yang sekeras batu, jangan simpan alpukat itu di dalam kulkas, karena akan memperlambat proses pematangannya. Namun jika kita memiliki alpukat yang telah matang dan tidak akan langsung dikonsumsi, simpanlah di dalam kulkas untuk mencegahnya cepat busuk.

Jadi inti dalam penyimpanan alpukat adalah, simpan alpukat yang belum matang dalam lemari, dan simpan alpukat yang telah matang dalam kulkas apabila buah tersebut tak akan dimakan saat itu juga.

TOMCAT

Tomcat (Paederus) adalah seekor serangga yang berasal dari keluarga kumbang. Di beberapa wilayah di Indonesia, Tomcat juga dikenal sebagai semut kanai atau semut kayap. Istilah Tomcat diduga diambil dari nama pesawat tempur Amerika. Ukuran Tomcat itu hanya sebesar 7.5 – 8mm. Walau ukurannya kecil, tetapi racun yang dikeluarkan oleh serangga ini ternyata lebih kuat daripada racun ular kobra. Itulah alasan mengapa anda harus waspada terhadap serangga Tomcat ini.
Bagaimana cara mengenali serangga Tomcat?

>Serangga Tomcat dewasa berukuran panjang badan sekitar 7.5-8mm
>Berwarna oranye tua dengan warna hitam di bagian kepala, sayap depan, dan pangkal perut
> Kalau dilihat dari kaca pembesar, sayap depan mempunyai biru/hijau kemilau warna warni .
Serangga Tomcat biasanya hidup di daerah pepohonan atau tanaman dan semak-semak. Bila dalam bahaya, serangga Tomcat akan mengeluarkan cairan racun sebagai tindakan untuk mempertahankan dirinya dari ancaman musuh. Zat racun “pederin” yang terdapat pada serangga ini bisa menimbulkan efek yang cukup menyakitkan di kulit. Jika bersentuhan, cucilah tangan dan kulit dengan sabun dan air.

Biasanya, jika kulit terkena zat pederin yang berada di dalam cairan Hemolimf yang dikeluarkan oleh Tomcat ini, tidak akan langsung terlihat efeknya. Dalam waktu 12-36 jam, baru kulit yang terkena cairan racun tersebut akan mulai menunjukkan efek Tomcat seperti warna kemerah-merahan pada kulit, gatal-gatal, lalu lama kemalaan berubah menjadi iritasi dan peradangan kulit. Gejala ini dapat berlangsung selama dua sampai tiga minggu.
